Summer Love

There’s a storm outside our house in Spain right now, so I thought I’d give a quick round up of some of my Instagram posts over the past few months! ☀️

I love summers in Spain and this year I’ve had two trips away here! So lucky to be able to travel. It’s not often that I do these days, so any time it happens I am very excited to get a change of scenery and perspective. Oh and who am I kidding… a much needed tan!

Thousands of feet above the Earth! The clouds look like the ocean! 🌊

This is mine and Joel’s first holiday together (just the two of us) since our honeymoon in November 2015! Actually being in each others company 24/7 is the best. Even in moments of silence like right now as I write this 😄… it’s just what we needed! We’re only 4 days in with another week to go but already I feel totally relaxed and inspired!

This is Venta Lanuza! My parents bought a house here 15 or so years ago and at the time it had a modest little beach, with a shabby local bar and an old rickety train that loudly rumbled past every hour. But now, it’s growing in popularity as the years go by! The little beach is inundated by locals and tourists alike. It’s beach bar hosts musicians and entertainers on a daily basis (even a wedding a few years back!). That old train is now a convenient tram line that runs all the way along the Costa Blanca making it extremely easy getting where you need to go without the hassle of a car. Coming back after all these years has made me realise why my parents love it here so much and brought back a lot of nostalgia from my childhood. I’m hoping we’ll come back here every year now, even if just for a long weekend away!

I love these photos of my sister and I! Jumping for joy and not a care in the world… even with the whole beach watching our many failed attempts! 😝

Who doesn’t LOVE a tree swing?! At a wedding! On the hottest day of the year! #bliss

Not only have I been visiting Spain this summer but there’s been a lot of weddings! All beautiful and different in their own ways. Feeling very blessed to have amazing friends in all areas of our lives.

I also ticked off visiting Windsor Castle from the bucket list! If you don’t already know, I love visiting old castles and houses (poor Joel 😂) so this was a big one for me as its the Queen’s official residence and full of so much history. Maybe I’ll do a future post about the places we’ve been to… will have to dig out some old photos!

Well, that’s a little round up for now! The sun’s finally made an appearance after hours of stormy weather, so we’re off to sit outside and soak in all the Vitamin D! ☀️☀️☀️☀️

Instagram Love

I had kind of neglected my Instagram for a while. I was never happy with its style and the fact that if I put up too many pictures, I thought it would bother other people. Then one day I realised I really shouldn’t care about what other people think!

If I want to put up thousands of photos from my day or trips away, then I will. Photography has always been a passion of mine and I think I’m okay at it, so why not show it off and give it the love it deserves! 😍

So then I thought I would do a round up of my favourite photographs for my blog and just explain a little about them and what they mean to me.

The one that started it all!

I was driving into work and it was a gorgeous fresh morning. I saw the sun rising all the way and knew there was somewhere I could stop and get a good photo.

I love how the start of a new day is so special and to capture it was beautiful.

These two photos are of Noosa… my new most favourite place in the entire world!

My Mum and I had the best day here and captured some lovely moments. We woke up in Byron Bay for breakfast, travelled to Noosa, had ice cream, walked the National Park for hours, watched the sun go down and then had a riverside dinner with fireworks!

It was the best, funniest, loveliest day ever and what made it better was it was completely unplanned and spontaneous. Beautiful memories with my Mum. ❤️

Byron Bay was the place I was looking forward to the most. I’d followed so many instagrammers that live here and knew it was a special place.

We had a great few days exploring and just soaking in the hippie vibe. Everyone was so cool… it was crazy. We saw whales for the first time! My Mum was so excited! Albeit, they were far away and she’d see them closer in Sydney a week later. I met Tuula Vintage and Melissa Findley on Wategos Beach after literally talking about them non-stop for days and moments before. That was pretty hilarious and amazing! To just stand by the infamous Byron Bay Lighthouse was enough for me but we did so much more then I ever expected.

I’m so grateful to capture beautiful sunrises outside my own front door but this Byron Bay one was extremely special to me! We woke up super early, along with many others and just basked in the rising sun of a new day. Incredible.

My final one is BONDI!

It was a really windy day and quite cold but we sat outside in the Icebergs Club anyway, drinking cider and watching the surfers. I love any photos of the ocean and its waves. They look like paintings to me.

✨ Wow, I’m really reminiscing! I must do blog posts about the entire trip before I forget everything! ✨

I hope you enjoy! Check out my Instagram whenever you get a chance. I’ll be updating it a lot more often!

5 Places I Would Love To Visit

The Hawaiian Islands
Hawaii’s magnificent landscapes and culture speaks for itself. My favourite TV show is Lost and I always envisioned I would visit Hawaii someday but to imagine myself on one of these islands seems to feel more like a dream and never a potential reality.

Yosemite
The beautiful cliff faces, waterfalls, rivers, sunsets… Yosemite has it all. I would give anything to walk amongst the trees that Ansel Adams used to sit under and capture his incredible photography. It seems like such a special place to me and one day I hope to visit.

New Zealand
I really love my landscapes (as you can probably tell by now) and New Zealand is top of my list for a trip one day. The photos I see of this country are breathtaking and I’d love to be able to explore the Lord of the Rings locations.

Iceland
This place just seems other-worldly to me. It’s no wonder movies use Iceland to portray a apocalyptic world. It’s so haunting, mysterious and barren that people always ask me why I would want to go there. The answer is because there’s no other place like it on Earth.

Lake Como
A beautiful place in Italy that I am dying to visit someday! I mean just look at that view… it speaks for itself. Simply perfect.

What a completely beautiful world we live in. It was so nice to take this time out and look for gorgeous photos of places I would love to visit someday. All I see in the news is hatred and destruction but this life doesn’t have to be like that. The world is perfectly imperfect and it’s our job to protect it from ourselves.

A Few Days in Devon

Flights out of the UK were super expensive over the bank holiday weekend and when we’re trying to save for some big house developments we wanted to take a local trip away somewhere. Joel used to visit North Devon with his family every summer, so we thought it would be really lovely and nostalgic for him to revisit some much loved places for his birthday.

Appledore

We stayed in a little flat in the seaside village of Appledore. This is such a cute place and great for families as there’s lots to keep you entertained. We ate fish and chips at Sylvester’s, had a couple of lovely meals at The Seagate, indulged in some homemade Devonshire ice cream and Joel drank some home-brewed Devonshire cider (of course!)

Lynton & Lynmouth

For one day we visited Lynton & Lynmouth, another cute seaside village (they’ll be a running theme here! haha!) and we climbed the rocks in the river with our little nieces. The Rum & Raisin ice cream was the best!

Clovelly

We then spent the day just the two of us in Clovelly. If you’re looking for amazing views and cute British cafes to have cream tea, this is the place to be! But be warned… it’s a hell of a steep climb! We saw a lot of people struggling in their flip flops on the very old cobbled streets but thankfully I packed my trainers (always prepared for every eventuality!) It’s so worth it though, as I got some lovely shots and even a butterfly posed for me.

Hartland Lighthouse

One night we watched a documentary funnily enough about North Devon and the presenter visited Hartland Lighthouse, so we thought on our way back from Clovelly we’ll stop off and get some nice shots. It was such a misty and rainy day, so I only managed to get a few but I love how mysterious and haunting they turned out because of it. Then on our way back we stopped off for a round of crazy golf in Hartland Quay. Oh and for the record, I won and even though it was Joel’s birthday I couldn’t just LET him win!

Update: He wants a rematch…!

Instow

Lastly, we spent the day with our family on Instow Beach and then back in Appledore. It was the perfect way to end our little holiday.

Life Update

These last few months have definitely been full to say the least and I can’t believe my last blog post was in April! A lot has happened in my life over these past few months and I wanted to give my blog a quick update and get back on track to sharing my life journey.

May – Birthday Trip to West Sussex

I turned 26 years old on the 26th May! It was a beautiful sunny day and originally we wanted to just spend it in Brighton but ended up heading to Arundel as well. It’s one of my all-time favourite places in the UK. It’s castle is spectacular and I recommend taking a visit there, especially if you’re a flower-lover like me. May was also tinged with extreme sadness as our beloved great granddad, GG, passed away at 96 years old. It was heartbreaking to say goodbye but we knew he led an amazing life full of love and gratitude. We miss you so much GG.

June – Australia

Our Australia trip started on 4th June and we visited Brisbane, Byron Bay, Noosa, Cairns, Mission Beach, Magnetic Island, Airlie Beach (longer than expected) and Sydney; then returned home on 24th June. It was the most amazing experience of my life! To spend 3 weeks with my Mum was so rewarding and it’s an adventure I will never forget. Joel also had an incredible time working with the England Rugby team. They won 3 out of 3 matches against Australia and for one of them, Mum and I were jumping and cheering around our Cairns hotel room, eating dominoes pizza and drinking Somersby Apple Cider…. it was the best. I was also able to use my new camera I got for my birthday, a Canon G7X! I got some great shots and videos that I could instantly upload to my phone and share on my Instagram. The photos below are a small collection of my favourites but I’ll be creating blog posts for each place we visited. Australia completely has our hearts and we’re already making future plans to move there one day… so watch this space!

July – Gratitude

When I got back from Australia, I knew I wanted to change some aspects of my life. We’ve been trying for a baby since November 2015 and after the first few months of trying we were really stressed about it. I’d been “late” a few times and we’d gotten our hopes up but then nature had other ideas. We then decided to just let go and not worry for a few months but then it still wasn’t happening. I started eating super healthily, practiced yoga more, meditation and drinking 2 litres of water everyday (which are things I should do anyway!) After 9 months of trying we know that conceiving for us obviously isn’t going to be as easy as most. We’ve let go of timing my ovulation days and taking the multivitamins, I now mostly just practice daily gratitude and eat healthily everyday. Maybe the reason we’re not conceiving is I have to take care of myself first. Perhaps this is the fates way of saying slow down and have this time just for you both. All I know is when it happens we will be so appreciative of our miracle baby. I know we’ve not struggled as much as others but it still doesn’t mean it didn’t kill me everyday seeing another woman pregnant. Now, I am so grateful to have my love and best friend at my side, our cute little house and our supportive and loving families.

In a few days time, Joel and I are off to Appledore in Devon and we’re so excited! It’ll be a lovely week away and we’re hoping the sun comes out for us.

I took a look back through my new years resolutions post and am doing quite well for over halfway through the year, although our Iceland visit might be one for 2017.

Australia Trip

In January I wrote that one of my new years resolutions was to travel the world and now I can officially confirm I am going to Australia! I popped into STA Travel yesterday morning and booked the flights for June 2016. To say I’m excited is an understatement! Now the main reason for this 3 week trip is for my husband. He is travelling with work for a month and we thought, this will probably be the only time we can go and just pay for one of us! We also think (hope) this will be our last BIG adventure for a while before our money is spent on a baby. So it makes total sense and after watching most of my family go travelling for the past few years, it’s nice to know we are now having our chance too.

It’ll be such a great girls trip too as I’m actually travelling with my Mum! She has been a few times already and is going to be my honorary tour guide and companion whilst Joel is busy working. All we have booked so far are our main flights with Emirates from London to Brisbane and back again from Sydney. We are looking to spend two weeks travelling from Cairns to Airlie Beach and then one week in Sydney.

I’ve been trying to draw inspiration not only from my parents and sister but also online. Tuula Vintage is an Aussie and has recently posted photos from her travels in her homeland and in true fashion, I have already set up an Australian Pinterest Board full of photos from peoples travels.

Here are a few of those photos that I am loving:

The Great Barrier Reef

My Aussie bucket list consists of seeing the Blue Mountains, the Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsunday Islands (Whitehaven Beach), climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and spend the day at Fraser Island. Everything else and little unexpected moments will be a bonus!

I plan on taking lots of photographs on my Canon 650D but also would love to video the trip more so. I absolutely love watching travel video diaries and when we travelled to Florida in 2008 I made a really cute family travel video (before it became the done-thing) so I really want to bring out that creative side to me again.

I’m sure I’ll do another post getting you updated on our itinerary. I’m so excited for this adventure to begin; we luckily don’t have long to wait… 76 days and counting! I’ll start a countdown on my main page! 😉

Exploring Winchester

Winchester is a beautiful city and I have worked there for almost 6 years now; Joel and I were even lucky enough to live in Kings Worthy for a year which is just a short drive away from the city centre. It’s full of amazing history, un-touched architecture, and was home to some of the most influential people in human history.

I walk the streets of Winchester everyday and realised I never take a moment to appreciate it’s beauty. I’m always in a hurry to either get out of the office for a quick lunch or need to buy something from the shops. So recently, I’ve been making a conscious effort to see more of the city and take photographs. It’s been so lovely getting out on my hour lunch break with my sister and exploring Winchester.

Be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram to see more photos of lovely Winchester.
