Happy new year and welcome to my new blog!
I’m so excited to start 2016 with a fresh start and hopefully a meaningful place to write my thoughts and share my experiences.
So, to start off I thought I would share with you my New Year’s resolutions!
Travel the world. Joel and I have plans to go to Australia in June. He has to work out there for a month and I couldn’t bear to see him alone in a foreign country again (as he was in South America in 2015). We’re also planning on seeing more of the UK, Europe and (hopefully) Iceland!
Practise yoga daily. I’ve been practising yoga for the past 6 months and absolutely love it! However, over the Christmas period I’ve taken a bit of a break but starting today there’s a new Yoga Camp from ‘Yoga with Adriene’. She is amazing and got me started on the basics of yoga. I’m also planning to join a gym in the Spring (after it starts to get a bit quieter) to take classes at least 4 times a week.
Photography. This is my absolute passion and has been for as long as I can remember. My problem is I dip in and out of favour with it as I’m my own worst critic. Joel and I are planning to buy a new camera (hopefully a Canon 5d Mark iii with a 24-70 2.8 lens – I found this on Barefoot Blonde’s blog and she takes gorgeous photos) and share this as he also loves photography but it’s so expensive for us to purchase and maintain two cameras right now.
Create our home. We’re moving out of my parents house after a year of saving this month! We’re so excited to finally start our married life in the privacy of our own home. Don’t get me wrong, I love my parents and I’m so grateful for them allowing us to come back to their home but it is (at times) a bit difficult.
Adopt a pet. I’m definitely a dog person but at this moment in our lives we know a cat would be the perfect way to ease us in to taking care of something. So once we’re all moved into our new house and settled, we’re popping straight out to the kitten factory and adding a new addition to our little family.
Blog every week. I’ve got a whole plan of posts I want to write from lifestyle events, monthly favourites, film and book reviews. As we’re moving soon, there’s lots of new experiences a married couple face and I can’t wait to just write them all down to look back on over the years.
Read daily. A couple of years ago, you would literally see me reading a book all day long. There’s something about escaping into a book and creating an imaginary world just for you that I can’t really explain. I’ve lost that over the years and I think adult life has just got in the way.
So there’s a few resolutions that should keep me busy in 2016! I hope I stay present, productive and grateful for these 366 days (leap year!) and make it a special one to remember.
